Svetis in Doha
This Easter, my Svetis accompanied me to Doha, a small city located in southern Saudi Arabia, bordering the waters of the Persian Gulf. A truly exciting trip to the East, where tradition and modernity coexist peacefully.
A very special place with stunning architectural scenes around every corner, where you can spend hours wandering (if you can stand the heat!).
I share with you my favorite spots and the Svetis that came with me.
Souk Waqif and Mary Jane Red Stripes
One of the liveliest places in Doha. A market of narrow streets, adobe facades, and the aromas of spices, incense, and leather. The fabric, craft, and perfume shops and their friendly owners beckon you to come in and discover their charm. An afternoon stroll to avoid the midday heat, with golden lights and plenty of stalls.
Museum of Islamic Art and Mary Jane Cream
To truly understand a city, it's essential to understand its history and culture. That's exactly what I discovered at the Museum of Islamic Art. A striking building inspired by Arabic architecture and designed by I.M. Pei, it rises high above the Corniche with spectacular views of the Arabian Gulf and the city skyline. Inside, you'll find 14 centuries of Islamic art, from manuscripts to textiles and ceramics. A beautiful and enriching cultural experience.
Hotel The Ned and Double Lace Pompei Green
A latte at The Ned and a morning spent in its luxurious pool. A hotel located in a historic building, the former Ministry of the Interior, with incredible views of the Doha skyline. It was an ideal place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, surrounded by the contemporary architecture that characterizes the city, and in excellent company.
